1:  What jobs are available with LANG or its affiliates?

2: What free Counseling resources are available to my family?

Military OneSource provides counseling 24/7 via phone or in person. Licensed counselors can provide you with in-person non-medical counseling sessions in your own community at no cost to you. Contact them at militaryonesource.com or 800-342-9647.

 

Additionally, we have Military Family Life Consultants; you may contact to schedule an appointment much the same way that MOS works.  Their contact info for Adult & Family Counselors

3: How do I get my Service Member to come home for a family emergency?

Depending on the nature of the emergency and those involved, your Service Member may or may not be eligible to return home before the end of the deployment.  However, you may still contact Red Cross (RC) to see if your situation qualifies for a RC message.  Contact Red Cross operators 24/7 at 1-877-272-7337.  When calling the Red Cross, please provide as much of the following information about the service member as is known:

1.              Full name

2.              Rank/rating

3.              Branch of service (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard)

4.              Social Security Account number or date of birth

5.              Military address

6.              Information about the deployed unit and home base unit

 

If you are unsuccessful with sending a RC message, or require additional assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact the Office of Family Programs.

4: How can I get assistance with making a budget / financial planning?

You can contact Military OneSource which provides counseling 24/7 via phone or in person. Contact them at www.militaryonesource.com or 800-342-9647. Financial counseling can assist with basic money management. Financial planning (telephonic counseling with certified financial planners) can help with reviewing savings plans, investing plans, stocks, bonds, and retirement plans. Financial planners can help inform you about the advantages and disadvantages of different savings plans and methods, but they won’t provide advice or recommend one over the other.

You may also contact one of our Family Assistant Specialist who may be able to assist you with debt assistance. In emergent cases, our FAS team members work with outside organizations that may be able to assist in a debt crisis. Please be prepared to provide them with financial records in an effort to expedite the process. You can find contact information for our FAS team at http://GeauxGuard.com/familyprograms.

5: Why have I not received my travel reimbursement from a RIO event [Yellow Ribbon or State Workshop]?

What date did you attend?  Reimbursements can take up to 30 days to process and require multiple approvals.  The Invitational Travel Order point of contact for the Reintegration Office (RIO) is Marty Dauzat or Abby Dufour.  Their contact information is 318-290-5428 or 318-290-5723.  The Office of Family Programs will forward your request for research and get back with you.  If you have further questions, RIO will be able to assist you.

6: Can you please provide me with information in regards to TRICARE?

TRICARE is the health care program for service members (Active, Guard/Reserve, Retired) and their families around the world. The TRICARE health program is organized into four geographic health service regions: North, South, West and Overseas. Please visit the TRICARE website at www.tricare.mil  to find your local representative who will better assist you. You may also reach them at 1-800-444-5445 orwww.humana-military.com.

7: Where is the nearest DEERS location?

DEERS locations are located all over the State for better assistance. Please visit www.geauxguard.com for a listing of all locations under the Resource tab. You will find all locations to include addresses, phone numbers and office hours.

8:  The local newspaper/news channel has contacted me to provide information relating to a current deployment.  What should I do?

Before giving any information, please contact your unit chain-of-command and/or the LANG’s Public Affairs media representative SSG Denis Ricou at 1-866-275-8176 or denis.b.ricou.mil@mail.mil for advice and protocol.

9:  How do I become involved in my unit’s Family Readiness Group (FRG)?

A Family Readiness Group is a command sponsored organization of family members, volunteers, and Guard members belonging to a unit that together provide an avenue of mutual support, assistance, and a network of communication among the Family Members, the chain of command, and community resources. There are several ways you can assist with your units FRG. The Family Readiness Support Assistant (FRSA) team will provide you with training, necessary for your position.  Please contact your FRSA for your respective Direct Reporting Unit (DRU). 10:  What resources – programs, camps, scholarships, etc. – are available for my military child?
