NEW ORLEANS – The Louisiana National Guard’s 1-141st Field Artillery Battalion (Washington Artillery) pay tribute to its fallen Soldiers during a wreath-laying ceremony near the unit’s monument at Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans, Jan. 11, 2014. The monument, which was unveiled on February 22, 1880, bears the names of all members of the Washington Artillery who died in service. The annual ceremony, which began in 1965, brings members of the Washington Artillery Veterans Association and current members of the unit together to remember the sacrifices made by their fellow servicemembers.
