COMMAND SERGEANT MAJOR TOMMY CAILLIER

Command Sergeant Major Tommy Caillier was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, on 3 February 1961, and was appointed as the Senior Enlisted Advisor for the Louisiana National Guard on 13 July 2008.

Command Sergeant Major Caillier began his military career on 14 March 1979 when, upon enlistment into the Louisiana National Guard, he was assigned to Detachment 2, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 199th Support Battalion in Lafayette, Louisiana. After a four year break in service, he reenlisted into Detachment 2, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 256th Infantry Brigade on 12 October 1989. He was deployed in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm from 30 November 1990 through 25 May 1991. From the time of his reenlistment until 30 May 1997, he was assigned to various positions of increasing responsibility until his appointment as First Sergeant, Company A, 2nd Battalion, 156th Infantry in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. In April 2001, he was appointed to the position of Command Sergeant Major, 199th Support Battalion. In September 2001, he was assigned to the position of Command Sergeant Major, 3rd Battalion, 156th Infantry while simultaneously assigned to Task Force Noble Eagle. While serving on the task force, he was assigned as the New Orleans Police Department’s 8th District Command Sergeant Major for Task Force Super Bowl and Task Force Mardi Gras.

In May 2002, Command Sergeant Major Caillier became an Active Guard Reserve Soldier when he accepted the position of Command Sergeant Major for the Recruiting and Retention Command in New Orleans, Louisiana. While assigned to this position he also served as the Command Sergeant Major for the 773d Military Police Battalion from October 2003 to November 2004. In May 2005 he was reassigned to the position of Deputy Provost Marshal for the Louisiana National Guard while simultaneously assigned as the Command Sergeant Major for the 61st Troop Command. During this period, Command Sergeant Major Caillier accepted a tour in Southwest Asia where he served as the Senior Enlisted Advisor, Third United States Army.

Command Sergeant Major Caillier is a graduate of the Military Policeman Course, Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Infantryman Course, Military Police Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, Mechanized Infantryman Course, and the United States Army Sergeants Major Course.

Command Sergeant Major Caillier’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with one silver oak leaf cluster, Army Commendation Medal with three bronze oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal with two bronze oak leaf clusters, Army Good Conduct Medal with two bronze loops, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal with three bronze oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal with one bronze service star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal with M device, numeral 3 and silver hourglass, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with numeral 4, Army Service Ribbon, Louisiana Legion of Merit, Louisiana Cross of Merit, Louisiana Commendation Medal, Louisiana War Cross with two bronze fleur-de-lis, Louisiana Cold War Victory Ribbon, Louisiana Emergency Service Medal with two bronze fleur-de-lis, Louisiana General Excellence Ribbon with four bronze fleur-de-lis, and the Louisiana Longevity Ribbon with three bronze fleur-de-lis.

Command Sergeant Major Caillier is a member of the Louisiana National Guard Enlisted Association, the National Guard Association of the United States, and the Fraternal Order of Police, Lafayette, Louisiana.

Command Sergeant Major Caillier is a resident of Pineville, Louisiana, and has one daughter, Alicia Renee, who is a student at the University of Chicago.
